Who played this weekend?

Mine is a little long...

We had our first tournament with a brand new team. Talk about exceeding expectations. We've got 3 or 4 who are brand new to travel but they all did great. Undefeated all day and brought home first place, finishing up past midnight Saturday night. I swear I'm still tired.

I feel like I need to brag on the whole team. I really thought if we won a game or two I'd be happy. They looked like they've been playing together for years. Everybody was hitting. Our little 07 didn't hit a lot but she had the highest OBP on the team, over 800! I believe we had 9 fielding errors all day. 4 wild pitches and 5 passed balls all day. Our team batting avg was 347. Remember this is 10U. I feel like those are some really great numbers for such a new and relatively inexperienced team.

D played mostly 3B when she wasn't pitching. Id call her a utility player because of her softball IQ, but most of her experience besides pitcher is 1B and SS. She did awesome though, and she loved playing 3B. And then there was this grand slam (she hit 600 this weekend):

So basically, we had just about the best team debut I could have asked for.

EDIT: I forgot to mention my favorite stat: she pitched 21 strike outs in 9 innings!

I think I can call this a brag since it doesn't happen very happen often and the sheer difficulty to pull off. Not one thing softball related happened this weekend!!! No practice, No games, no work out, no softball talk...NOTHING! It was so hard walking through the Hitting Dojo (garage) to see the tee and net just sitting there unused. I even treated myself to a massage yesterday. Surprised to say that I am sore.

Wow! That is certainly a rarity around here too. Good for you. Gotta do it sometimes!

This weekend my daughter pitched in a triple overtime game. Wow, what a game between both teams. Even though we lost, this game was what makes softball so much fun to watch. Since it was the only game still being played, everyone was watching and commenting on what a great game it was. Unfortunately for our team, our other pitcher got injured so all the pitching was up to my daughter. The other team brought in their other bracket pitcher during the game. As I was watching, I could hear other players and fans talk about how good of a pitcher my daughter was. Afterwards, several people came up to her and told her good job.

DD played her first 18u tourney this weekend. Saturday she did OK as leadoff, 5 for 10 on base. First game sunday she went 0 for 2 with two Ks :( I finally got to see her out matched at the plate. She faced a 6' lefty with all the pitches. Her teammates battled and they pulled out a win. In the championship game she went 3-3 and they took home the hardware for the second straight tourney. 10-0 record.
