Now you're assuming that the coach is favoring players that are performing well. No where in my statement does it say that. It says "it's annoying when you favor players who don't deserve it." This means, not only do they not deserve it for effort reasons, but usually for other...

Wow - some very, very interesting comments and feedback. It's funny how you don't realize the way some people will take what you've written because you mean it so clearly one way and they see it a completely different way. So it's pretty cool to see some of the responses here.

What I LOVE about the first clip - strong step TO the ball with glove foot. 3b is NOT sitting and fielding square with the weight on her heels. She also does NOT to a back step with her right foot nor does she take extra shuffle steps then GUN the ball to 1b. Pretty efficent play, could've...
Another thing to consider is that even more important than how many days or hours she practices per week is HOW she practices during the time she does practice. Someone who is highly focused 3 times a week for a few hours a day can actually end up performing better than those players who...
If you use it properly, firm or soft doesnʻt matter too much.
IMHO soft would give you some feedback - if you can feel that itʻs moving because youʻre tugging on it, youʻre doing it wrong. Firm jack may not give you that feedback. Either way, youʻre not supposed to be yanking on that trigger...
If they arenʻt getting to the bases at their top speed, they are being lazy.
If they are, then you obviously need to work on increasing their speed and/or their reaction time. Like maybe they arenʻt starting to head toward the base to cover until 2 seconds after they should have.
Only you...
I was like your daughter. After a while I NEVER swung at the first pitch because I had a coach that told me not to. After a string of popping up the first pitch all the time. I was told never to swing at it.
When I got to college, my coach used to force me to swing at the first pitch by...
I donʻt know that there is an age where players settle into a position. Any player that is settled into a position by 12U, IMHO, is sort of "stuck."
What if they end up on a team with a total stud in that position. Now what?
Utility player is EXTREMELY valuable and something Iʻve heard DI...
Iʻm not sure warm-up before the game is the time to be building confidence in hitting skills. Typically solid hitting practice during the week will be what actually gives a player confidence that they are game ready. Not hitting wiffles before the game. JMHO.
Plus Iʻm not sure I like...

yes that
does not have to be different mechanics from "fastball."
If your fastball has great spin, you can throw a drop by simply altering release point. This was one of my DDs better pitches which she threw without really doing it on purpose at first.
As others have stated -...
It's great for her to start thinking about it now. I would return any questionnaires that are sent. Some use that as their first "screening" if you never return it, they dump your name. Especially since she is unsure now, keep options open.
She can start thinking of what kind of area she...
Depends on where you are and where she wants to go. Players from HI that want to go to college in HI do NOT need to travel ANYWHERE! The local coaches all follow our local leagues.
Keep on pushing. Keep on doing what you can on your end. It's not easy and it's a lot more work now than most people are willing to put in, but if you don't do it, you only limit yourself.
Also get information on non-athletic scholarship and have your DD work on those too!
2013 grads really...
I believe you have to have a certain mentality and certain level of dedication to softball to play DI. If softball isn't what you consider your craft that you take absolute pride in, DI is probably not for you. You really have to LOVE it.
DI is TOUGH and VERY DEMANDING and challenging, etc...
