Some good tips. It's actually a boy, I still come here sometimes. I run a winter program. He is a big strong kid that moves up to minor league this year.
Seeking coaching advice for my indoor winter training program. I have 20 t-ball kids ages 6-8. We meet once a week for an hour and a half. I want to keep them busy and productive instead of chaotic.
For 7 weeks we have followed this format but it is still a chore to keep the kids occupied...
Too many "experts" here with unwavering opinions. The bottom line is your batter has to be able to make contact. Muscle memory only goes so far, when they are in a pressure situation most of their swings are not the same as practice.
In my current opinion hands are limited. The core muscles...
I've been curious what the drawbacks of O'Leary are (without using acronyms....I don't know what the letters stand for). We use it at our high school, what are we missing?
I did this with my high school girls during warm-ups using a rubber mallet and the dugout wall - pretending not to bend the imaginary nail. These slo-motion mental drills produce great results. It gets them focusing on swing mechanics before they go through tee drills, soft toss, and live...
If Tschida is the guy I'm thinking of I saw him in Pittsburgh at the clinics. A one hour lesson on hitting turned into a 2 hour lecture on the physiology of hitting. In a nutshell, every single aspect of your body is at 90 degrees (ankles, hips, elbows, shoulders, knees, bat, etc). Smart guy...
Mike Candrea has an outstanding outfielders drill DVD, I didn't care for his hitting dvd but it is good for some drills. Most of his stuff can also be found on youtube in clips.
If you don't like ChrisO'Leary.com, at least go to the Rotational Hitting 101 page about half way down and check out...
What have you found that has lead to improvement in your player or your coaching?
Here is what I have found so far:
1. Any of Cindy Bristow's hitting eClinics. They are very well done, very informative, and she keeps my interest.
Softball Excellence
2. Chris O'Leary.com. Just a wealth of...
One of our coaches had an iPad with lines already on it when the video opened and you just lined up with your batter. It seemed to work well, but I don't know the name. I also read that one of you liked Right View Pro. I have an Android Galaxy s3, what do you like to use the best?
The Official Blitzball™ // The Fastest Ball on the Planet
After viewing Cindy Bristow's e-clinics I bought 16 packs of Easton EZ Curve balls. Any thoughts on the Blitzballs, and whether having a station set up with them would be of value to a high school practice?
