    Louisville Slugger Xeno or Lxt??

For the record, my website provides: 1) The Manufacturer's description 2) Player, Coach and Parent reviews from around the web (vendors, review sites, forums, and visitors to my site) in one central site to reduce hours of searching; I also calculate % Recommended based solely on these reviews...

    Anderson Nanotek

We've done an in-depth review of the Anderson NanoTek. It's a decent performing bat - balanced, non-composite (alloy). We've also gathered 47 reviews from Players, Coaches and Parents - about 80% recommend the bat. That's pretty low. There are over 20 bats where Players, Coaches and Parents have...

Coaching advice needed for 6-8 yr old girls team

Over the past 25 years, I've coached Travel and High School Fastpitch Softball. All of my Travel experience has been with 10U & 12U with players that had little or no experience. I found the following DVDs very helpful (I bought them when they were VHS tapes). Sue Enquist (one of the most...

New to 12U coaching - tips needed

I've used some great Coaching DVDs during my 25 year coaching career. I have about 50 DVDs / VHSs in my library and recommend these DVDs for Teaching New/Young players (they cost between $20 and $40): Sue Enquist (one of the most influential coaches in fastpitch softball): ...Bunting & Hitting...

    Xeno being discontinued?

Certainly, the LXT ($349) is Louisville Slugger's new leader. But the Xeno (still expensive at $300) is out for 2014 but it is essentially the same bat (different color) than the 2013 Xeno. While both the LXT and Xeno fastpitch softball bats perform very well, our concern is whether or not...

Anyone hit tennis balls for outfield drills?

Our Varsity uses tennis balls quite a bit - mostly for outfielders but also with !B/3B near the foul line fences. We think it helps outfielders to be much more aggressive. They really hard run to the ball.

    Video analysis software - Choices?

There's MotionPro ($130) and Motion Pro Advanced ($249).

    Louisville Slugger LXT

Both the Xeno and the LXT are very good performing fastpitch softball bats. However, the Xeno has a significant durability problem and early returns on the LXT also are showing durability issues. And we all know the OneX disaster last year. Louisville Slugger is betting 2014 on the LXT ($349)...

What size and brand of Glove does your DD use?

Typically, Infielders and Pitchers will use 11.5" - 12.5" while outfielders use bigger gloves (12.5" - 13". Of course, this is influenced by whether your DD has small hands or large hands. Importantly, Fastpitch Softball Gloves (as opposed to Slowpitch Softball gloves) have narrower finger...

    "Team" bats?

Team Bats are a great idea - especially for 8U, 10U and 12U Teams. Everyone wants good performing fastpitch softball bats but durability is VERY IMPORTANT for Team Bats. Obviously, they get MUCH MORE USE (practices and games) and they typically get tossed around much more without regard to...

    Affordable equipment.

Which bat? Well, it depends - is the player a small, medium or strong player? Is the player a Power Hitter, Singles Hitter or Slapper. Does the Player have good bat speed or slow bat speed. Will the bat be used in cold weather? These "selection" issues aside, there is no doubt in my experience...

    Total Control Sports Softball

This is how The Coach uses TCB Weighted Balls with his Travel and High School Teams: First, we use the Original TCB (3.2" diameter, 425 grams) - the smaller size increases focus. The Coach or one of his pitchers stands 15-20 feet in front of the hitter, throwing the ORIGINAL TCB Weighted Ball...

    Louisville Slugger Xeno or Lxt??

Both bats are good performing bats (i.e., they have good pop) but the LXT is Louisville Slugger's newest and most expensive bat. The Xeno is a two-piece, balanced bat while the LXT is a three-piece, balanced bat. The -10 drop is typically used by smaller players, contact hitters and slappers. If...

    How cold is too cold?

I coach at the high school level in Southeastern Michigan. We try to get out if it's above 40 degrees if only to get the girls moving outside (especially if we've spent 2 weeks already indoors. In this kind of weather, we focus on throwing (not pitching) and fielding. Don't use composite bats...
