    Fastest Pitch

Based on everyone's experience, what do you think ends up being most pitcher's fastest pitch?

    Pitching question

I was recently asked "why is a softball pitched underhand and the baseball is thrown overhand?". I admit I have never looked into it. Just accepted it and never questioned why? Does anyone know the answer?

13 year old pitching every weekend

I have my opinion on this subject but I am curious to what the other members think. Would you consider pitching every weekend from May to the end of November too much for a 13 yr. old? She began pitching at the age of 9 and began playing travel ball at age 10, but was pitched sparingly her 1st...

    Resistance

When does resistance become too much resistance?

    Is Luna legal?

Does anyone else believe Luna's release is almost a side-arm release? Therefore would be considered an illegal pitch according to ASA Rule 6.3.E. I am watching the Texas-Missouri game.

    The Circle and its' purpose

In a few of the posts, there has been discussion about the pitcher landing outside of the circle with the stride foot. Will someone tell me where I might find that in the rule books? I know the rule book addresses the "LOOK BACK" and the circle. It would be a disadvantage to be a tall pitcher...

    Illegal pitchs-Florida/UCLA

I only got to see the first 4 innings of the ballgame, but I think the umps were more lenient with UCLA on the strike zone and two of the legal pitchs shown on Strombacher were very questionable. I thought it was a very poorly officated game and the umpires controlled the game too much and put...

    Fastpitch Attire

I've been watching some of the regionals this weekend and I miss the shorts that has always been fastpitch softball. Is there a reason other than "strawberries" that the teams have gone to the baseball uniform look.

    Juco vs. D1 pitcher

A question I was asked recently was "Can a successful JuCo pitcher be competeitive at the D1 level". My response to him was probably not but it would depend on the pitchers' ability to step it up. I would like to hear from the other members and their opinions.

    Radar Guns and PCs

I read quite a bit about DDs' speed at 10u being in the mid 50's and others ages cruising speeds in the 60's.I have been around this sport for quite some time and attend travel ball tournaments on a regular basis.Often, I will carry my radar gun and check the speeds and find it rare to find any...

    Quality of Travel Ball

Is todays' travel ball teams as strong now as they were 5 years ago? Many have told me that travel ball today is less competitive now than it was when their DDs played. Watered down and glorified rec ball are terms they use to describe todays' travel ball teams. One parent said if their DD...

    Circle not Mound

Since I registered to the site, I've seen numerous references to DDs on the mound. I realize it's probably an oversight but the DDs don't pitch from a mound. Fastpitch pitchers are" in the circle". As one poster stated, "you are on the wrong field if you are pitching on a mound".

    Back door curves and screwballs

I have been a member for a short period and have not seen any discussions about the back door curves and screwballs. My oldest DD used to use the back door curve and it was a very effective pitch for her. My youngest DD had a very effective back door screwball. Does anyone have an opinion on the...
