    Feeling stressed already!

In addition to geographic region, the absolute first question I would ask is "do you want a metropolitan city or college town environment". IMHO this is the biggest differentiator between universities... after this, a lot of them are pretty similar.

    Looking for ideas

I was thinking I'd be doing a PHP framework project, but it looks like you're forcing me to go back and get reacquainted with .NET! Hopefully my old laptop can handle it (though if the VS download/install is any indication, I'm in some trouble)! Obviously, this biggest ask is going to be the...

    Looking for ideas

Thanks for the suggestion, but it looks like there are a few of those out there, already. Here are a couple in case you'd like to use them: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pitch-cast-baseball-softball-pitch-tracker/id997581931?mt=8...

    Looking for ideas

Hey Everyone, I’m a software developer and am looking to start my next side project. I wanted it to be softball related so I can work on it with my DD to start teaching her some programming. Since I’m kind of new to the softball world, I figured I’d reach out to see Is there something about...

Opinions? Weight/strength training, how much time per week for a 14y.o.?

My DD (7) does competitive gymnastics, 3x per week for 1.5 hours per session. No weights (though some of the older girls add foot/wrist weights), lots of core work. Seems to be of great benefit as she's one of the longer hitters on the team. That being said, the longest hitter on our team is...

    Poker face

Looks like she's ready for an academic scholarship! Edit: I, too, literally LOLed after reading this.

what to look for (good or bad), what questions to ask before we sign on dotted line

Thanks for this post! My DD is 7 and we just started our 4th season of rec ball. We've been thinking about trying out for TB after this season to, at least, gauge and see where she's at. So, we're just starting our (hopefully) long journey and, not gonna lie... it started getting a little...

New coach...needs help with 8u batting lineup

I know this is an old thread, but I stumbled across it because I, too, have been trying the same strategy in 8U and am running into the same LOB issue. We probably lead the league in ending the inning with bases loaded. I'm going to try just hitting best to worst, with a few power/speed tweaks...

    Any good "situational" fielding drills?

    Thanks, all, for the suggestions!

    Any good "situational" fielding drills?

I coach an 8U team where four of the girls are playing up from 6U and the other seven have never played before. We've been focusing a lot on fundamental drills, getting them to field the ball cleanly, throw the ball, be quick, etc. However, I'm noticing a lack of situational awareness in...

Softball potential at 8 years old

I did a back of the napkin study of my league, last season, and there was an almost direct correlation between the average age of an 8U team and their end of season standings. I'm finding that on my team, now, as well. The younger, more experienced, 6U's playing up in 8U are getting passed by...

    Off season sports

Yeah, my DD's are very young, but we're already preparing for no off-season. We're going to put them in other sports that they can participate in simultaneously. They're about to start gymnastics, and have shown an interest in playing tennis. I had my older in golf until I realized she was a...

    "Play softball", Dad said...

"Learning to catch" was probably not the correct term.. she had been doing really well with the 6U squishy softballs. They'd hit her in the shoulder and she would be fine (maybe give me a funny look for a second). This was the first time, in practice, we used the real softballs. Figures this...

    "Play softball", Dad said...

... "It'll be fun", he said. She's 6U playing up in 8U... first practice this season, learning to catch. Ball bounced right past her glove. She toughed it out, though (better than her old man would've at her age)!
