That's the way it is (or at least was) in Illinois. Once the HS season has officially started, no other softball. That includes something like co-ed slow pitch as well. Plus at least at our HS, you would only have an occasional Saturday off (Prom) and every Sunday. You either have a game...
Loyalty? This is a predominately travel softball board isn't it :) We know all about Loyalty here! Anyway, we do have a little loyalty to brands but aren't going to over do it with travel related credit cards.
We keep a few cards, Hyatt and IHG being two. You get a free night each year out...
It depends on what you're looking to use the points/miles for. If you want strickly cash back, the Capital One Venture or Fidelity are good cards.
If you're looking to use them for travel, it depends on where you want to go and what airport you most likely will use. It you target a certain...
Must be a local thing. I've never heard it in the Midwest. There are way too many accessories to mean much of anything other than how it makes them look.
It's overall softball program. Not strictly academic. Otherwise just list the Ivy schools, Stanford, et. al. in yet another poll.
I do think both Michigan and Alabama should be on that list and close to the top.
I don't know how much I can offer given the limited background but I will offer some opinions
Holding someone "accountable" has the be the most overused word in today's American Lexicon. (DF needs a barf emoticon). That phrase is everywhere.
Given this is a 16-year old, I find...
Stay at home moms are still quite common in the Midwest. At least a few per team. Others do odds and ends and have very flexible schedules. No such thing as rush hour in many places.
I wished they allowed them to play in Illinois. We have a 7th grade SS who is currently getting interest from Oregon among others. While she wouldn't play SS on Varsity (current SS is a Sr. going Div. 1), they'd find a spot for her somewhere. Current Varsity team in ranked #5 in their class...
Yes, my daughter is going to play a few days with her old team. When I go by I will certainly wave and then say a prayer for the Fighting Illini....although it won't help.
Tell me about it. I sat through that "football" game
Just realized their next home game I get to miss because I'll be in St. Louis (I think). That will be an improvement.
Bunches of lawsuits and results like this out there:

But it's simply the tip of the iceberg.
If that's the way it is with all boys/girls sports, all it takes is for someone to file a complaint with the Dept of Ed, Office of Civil Rights (OCR). It would change.
No,
If I equip the football team with the latest and greatest, I would also equip an equal number of females participating in athletics with the latest and greatest. That likely would not be spending the same amount of money given the cost of football equipment.
Specifically, equity applied towards each gender within the athletic program (not necessarily each sport), that's the law.
If booster clubs raise money for a specific sport, that's fine, but then it is the responsibility of the district to correct the inequity by allocation of their own...
This is becoming more common as it helps ensure equity. What's a good reason NOT to have just 1 combined booster club?
Another item that seems to be happening is only 1 fundraiser per team. More than that it's deemed to be a team/community burden.
I believe a coach in our area did a...
