    Bailing with the stride foot

13-yo lefty DS, first year on the big baseball diamond. In the cage he has a good swing and is not afraid of any pitch (the other night he tried to clear out a ball that was obviously going to hit him and fouled it off his face). At game time, he shies away from the inside pitch and lately is...

    Switch-hitting

Anybody have experience training a switch-hitter? Got a kid who wants to try, a natural lefty but seems pretty competent from the right side, too. Besides twice as much batting practice, what do we need to be doing or thinking about?

    Social Engineering

I am signalling to my hitters from the 3B coach's box one day, when I randomly throw in a closed fist, which meant nothing. The jackass opposing coach yells to his pitcher "Taking!" I do it again, and he does the same thing. Between innings, I gather up my team: "Listen, this moron thinks I...

    How high?

DD hits a little foul popup with so much backspin on it that it hovers at eye level above home plate for a second before it drops. Catcher catches it. Umpire calls it foul tip, strike 2. Is he wrong? How high does it need to go before it's a legit foul out?

    Just for fun

I really wanted to post this in the model swings thread: Vlad Guerrero Could Hit Anything :p

    Worth bat return

Quick shout out to their Customer Service Dept. I sent back a discontinued bat that DD broke the knob off, and they offered me a bat I didn't think was of comparable value. They then offered me a "one-time" exchange for a Sick -10 and I thanked them profusely. Should look good next to the...

    You make the call

Routine pop fly in foul territory. At its apex, an eagle grabs it and carries it into shallow center field, whereupon it drops the ball into a fielder's glove. Everyone on the field is completely mesmerized, except for the runner on 3rd who smartly tags and crosses the plate without a throw.

    Opinions on Techzilla?

I see an older model (2011 or 2012?) at Baseball Express for about $130. Could be the last bat DD ever needs. Balanced, or end-loaded?

    Favorite games

What are your favorite games to play to liven up practice? Mine is called "Three Outs." You need a SS, 3B, 1B and C with gear on. Start with runners on 1B, 3B, and home plate. Here's how it works: Coach at home plate hits a ground ball to SS. Runners at 1B and home start to run. Runner at...

    Release point

13-y.o. DD struggles with a consistent release point. Seems like every third pitch is over the catcher's head or a bowling ball. Is this just a matter of repetition, or is there something else that can help? She admits she doesn't practice enough, but I think part of that is her getting...
