    Fastpitch Masters Camp

Any reviews? Looking at this camp since we can kill two birds with one stone (visit family and get a camp in) fastpitchmasters.com Fastpitch Masters Fast Pitch Masters My daughter is also a 12U player currently but will be 13 at the time, not sure which camp is right for her.

as a coach would you ever...

So it could be a liability reason. Kids have waivers signed - coaches have them too I bet. If it's carved out of a business, they might want to limit potential loss. Seen this before.

as a coach would you ever...

Short answer - unless for liability reasons, I never stopped parents from watching. At a facility I used in the past, there was a very tight viewing area that could only accommodate 3-4 parents. We would get a few to stick around and I'd also occasionally pull them in to help with something...

"Ice Breaker" for 1st Practice w/All-Star team

Great idea coach. :-) I loved our 8U All Star days - we really drilled em and challenged them along the way. Many of them are still doing really well.

"Ice Breaker" for 1st Practice w/All-Star team

If it's warm, have someone bring popsicles for after practice and let them all talk with each other. Girls find a way to connect.

Moving from coaching league ball to coaching travel ball

Some other things to consider and touched on in other points: - Unless you are a pitching expert, encourage anyone who wants to pitch to get lessons. - Set a preliminary schedule before tryouts - # of games, tournaments, practices per week so you set expectations - Remember that they will...

    Stealing Defense

The only other option you have is if you know it is an obvious bunt situation - you can have the short cover the bunt and leave 3B at home. But generally speaking, the SS needs to cover 3B and they have to communicate with each other that she is there or you will have two players going back to...

We went to ASA B Metros in St Joe, Mo last year and had a good time.

Looking for suggestions on tournaments outside of Illinois

Just to close the loop on this one - We are going to New Berlin, WI for a two day USSSA qualifier. Knew a few coaches there last year and they gave it great reviews so one night away for this one as well.

Brand new first class softball complex - Peoria IL

Each pod is supposed to have a concession stand there. Stay to play policy as well (as you would expect).

Is this run by the North Scott Lightning?

Looking for suggestions on tournaments outside of Illinois

Agreed on Green Valley - my father was an ASA JO Comm in the region and spent plenty of time there.

Looking for suggestions on tournaments outside of Illinois

12U 'B' team coach looking for good tournaments next spring/summer that are within 3.5 hours of Chicago that would be good from both a competitiveness and well run perspective. Any suggestions in southern WI, SW Michigan?

team disbands after season....refund for parents??

My organization requires us to zero out before the next season starts. It all sounds well and good to roll over but if your daughter was not on the team next year, I would think that would not be acceptable to keep their contribution for other girls to use.

team disbands after season....refund for parents??

And maybe one other thing to note - every team disbands after a season and then reforms the next year. Sometimes the same kids are back but each year is a new year.
