    illegal pitching not called

Whoops I didn't see the next page where Comp and MTR already covered this.

    illegal pitching not called

Pet peeve: their is no mound in softball. 😎 Disclaimer: I've never touched a Softball Canada nor ISF rule book so I'm speaking USA Softball The pitcher must step on with hands separated and the ball in either the glove or the pitching hand. Now granted most have it in pitching hand, and if...

    Not on Lineup Card

They had a straight line up of nine players which did not include number 13 at all either as a starter or a sub. Now 13 bats. 13 was not a starter and not listed as a sub. She is now coming in as a sub and hitting in the five spot for whoever was listed in the five spot. Speaking NFHS if...

    Interference on Bunt Question

Comp, isn't F2 making intitial play on batted ball. NFHS specifically addresses "intilal play". While USA does not specifically mention "intilal play on batted ball" we do give fielders the right to play the batted ball; it's the one time a defensive player without the ball has right of way...

    illegal pitching not called

I'm getting the sense that PGF is just show business, not actuall compitition. While I get the whole "do as your UIC instructs" I believe at a USA National we should call it as written and would hope I was not instructed to ignore the written rules.

    Batter Struck by Batted Ball

This is much like a batted ball that makes contact with a discarded bat. Does that ball roll back into the bat (nothing) or does the thrown bat catch up to and hit the ball a 2nd time in fair territory (interference)? With the bunt or slap that makes contact with the batter if the batted ball...

    Dropped 3rd Strike Situation

The batter swung and missed so it is strike three. They got that part right. When a pitch hits the batter the ball becomes dead. Always. Usually the batter is awarded 1B on a hit by pitch but not if the batter swings. Then it's just a dead ball strike. In this case it's strike three and...

    Batting out of order- WTF?

Yes as soon as a pitch is thrown (legal/illegal) to the next batter after #2s ground out to 3B the proper batter becomes #4 because #3 is on base. But it would be a poor strategy in a USA or NFHS game to not appeal the BOO since the put out of the lead runner would stand and the batter who...

    Batting out of order- WTF?

Your right if it's a college game. In an USA or NFHS game it depends on where the double play was made. Might end up with three outs.

    Batter kicks blocked pitch

Ok.. the batter contacts a live ball.. in this instance kicks it away from F2. What rules allows me to kill that play besides the interference rule? A pitch that strikes the batter or her clothing would do it but this was a pitch that came to rest in the box and did not hit her. Then she...

    Batter kicks blocked pitch

Fair enough on using term blocked ball. But I don't even like to call time when a defender is holding a tag on a runner for extended period of time hoping the runner will get off the bag. I certainly don't want to call time every time a pitch is on the ground near the batters feet. I think...

    Batter kicks blocked pitch

It's not a blocked ball. USA Rule 1-Blocked Ball: A batted, pitched or thrown ball that is stopped, touched, or handled by a person not engwg d in the game, or which touches loose equipment or any object that is not part of the official equipment or official playing area. NFHS has same...

    Pitching Question

There's a lot of motions that pitchers make that just plain look odd but are not illegal. It wouldn't be the weird mothion she goes thru that would be illegal it's what she's doing to the ball. When you use the word "scraping" I'm thinking defacing the ball as well although I never considered...

Scoring question (in the park homer)

Twin, don't you know there's no arguing judgement calls? Especially with your wife!! ;)

    Batter kicks blocked pitch

I agree with DD. It doesn't matter if batter "meant to" or did it "accidentally". The batter's action of kicking the ball, even if inadvertent, allowed the runners to advance while preventing the defense from making a play. Dead ball, batter out, runners return.
