She'll have the same coach she had at 8u, along with her mother assisting, who is a very knowledgeable softball person who assists at the high school level. If she follows the same older/younger path she'll have very good coaching all the way up. Really looking forward to it.
She ended up trying out for both 10u and 12u...We wanted her to challenge herself a little and just see what it's like. If they were going to assemble two teams she may have had a shot but they decided to just go with one. She did make the 10u team again and should be a big contributor. She is...
TY for the input. We are def working with her to shorten her path to the ball. I also really agree that most 10u girls are waiting to see location before starting. With some of those pitchers from 35 feet you just don't have time.
More things to work on with her hitting coach this offseason.
Well, this was my thinking with this bat...
This is her first year at 10u. This is her first composite. The Worth was a good bat for two years but wanted to upgrade. She was still behind the faster pitchers (along with most teammates) so I didn't want to up her weight 3 ounces. She says the...
It is an 11' regular softball..10u. Definitely expected more pop but maybe that is just the way it is and we need to upgrade to the higher end bats to see the difference.
I bought a Demarini Vendetta C6 (2013) in February for my DD and I still think her hits off her Worth Storm are harder and further. I don't see any damage or hear any rattles. It's gotten enough use wear break-in shouldn't be an issue...
Just thought she would get a little more pop.
My DD had probably her worst game defensively since she moved to 2nd. Dropped fly ball that was ruled infield fly but the runners still advanced. She forgot to put her sunglasses back on after a rain delay. My fault for not noticing. 2 through the wicket ground balls and a drop on a soft liner...
Yeah, I know the current 12u girls are pretty monstrous...lol. I think strength is the biggest reason for keeping her down. She's got a plus arm and plus fielding ability but definitely lacks pop with her bat. Not that I'm expecting her to jack homers but she could definitely use another year to...
Thanks again for all the help. Due to an injury, she has started at 2nd and been the number 2 pitcher for the last month or so. She's definitely played well, IMO. Our plan is still to have her tryout for both 10u and 12u and see where she's at. There's a chance there may not be enough girls for...
I agree with this. We thought next year would be the test. If she really enjoys it and is motivated we would get her all the coaching she needs. If not we know not to concentrate on it.
I'll be honest, we are not sure of her desire yet either. In our minds, that was a reason for keeping her back. To give her a chance and find that out. Her pitching has improved a little just pitching in practices and some games in 10u rec.But she would get hit hard in 12u TB. When she started...
Thank you so much for all the input. I think we both agree we want her to stay back. It's just matter of making sure she is ok with that and keeping her motivated and working hard.
We are really trying to convince her of that. It's all about making her a better player. We used the word dominate with her when trying to convince her. Her eyes definitely lit up a little. But leaving the 'safety net' of the other older girls and a winning team I think freaks her out a little.
