The thinking is that people will over tighten the Velcro on their wrist and make the glove harder to use. It should be loose.

And, it’s just a weak link, combined with those horrible laces!

I just looked at my daughter's Nokona fielding glove with the Velcro strap. Holy crap! She has it so tight. I'm glad her catcher's mitt is a HOH.
