I'm glad to see I'm not the only one this happened too. Honestly its one of those things I'll never see again as annoyed as I was about the outcome I think what bothered me more about the situation was the attitude the field ump had about it.

It has a serious statement,. Once a ball is called foul, it can not be unwound.
There is no rule stating that.
But isn't there a rule that if they make an erroneous call they are supposed to remedy the situation so neither team suffers? If you say
ball four take your base to the hitter with the bases loaded if they tag the runner out at home as an example?

Then show me a rule, case play, clarification or anything saying such. I believe possibly NCAA has, but no other rule set I am aware of has addressed it.
And if the ball really was not foul, has not the erroneous call put the offensive team at a disadvantage? The umpire is to do their best to rectify the situation as equitably as possible when a delay of call or reversal of a call puts either team in jeopardy.
Unwind it, how?
Reverse the call and place runners on the bases they would have reached in the umpires judgement.
Just what this crew did.
