Coach appreciation gift

My DD loves these and has them in various colors. However, in a NSA tournament a couple of weeks ago the umpires told her should could not wear it and had her remove it in the middle of an inning. Not sure if you were intending for the girls to wear them during the game or not.

Just a thought and it seems to be the rage...at least with the younger crowd. You could buy the entire team the tornado necklaces from Amazon including the coaches for under $60 in team colors. I think a 10 pack runs around $30 a piece. Don't know if the coaches would actually wear them but they are unisex

I've coached not as many years as many of you, but a smile and a thank you is all I need. The gifts are nice, but knowing that they enjoyed the year, learned something and tell me they are coming back speaks volumes about the group I have brought together.

Last week was our last week of team practice before our final tournament. I asked DD to think about what each of her 4 coaches taught her this fall season. I went off the the store and when I got back, she had written thank you notes to each of her coaches thanking them for a great season and letting them know what each of them had instilled in her. They were:

HC - Keeping your head down on a sharply hit ball straight to you
AC #1 - Running all the way through first base and into foul territory
AC #2 - Turning your hips when batting
AC #3 - It's ok to smile when pitching

She also wrote thank you notes to the coaches' wives thanking them for their support of the team.

I save the scowl for other parents who talk trash about kids on the team.

Last Spring, my wife put together the "coach gifts " for the team's coaches - a picture frame with the team photo, and a wide white matte around it for all the girls to sign with the caption "Thank you, Coach!". It proudly hangs on the wall of my office.

I honestly had no input in the planning or execution of it. It thought it was a good - and appropriate - idea, no matter who put it together.
