Good evening,
It has been quite a few years since I played any type of organized ball so I wanted to ask some coaches to see if they agree or disagree with a coaching practice I have witnessed recently. My daughter plays for a middle school softball team of which there is a new assistant coach this year. This coach, besides yelling at the girls constantly, has the girls run every time they make a bad throw. From my years of playing and when I did coach, I found that positive reinforcement worked better than being negative. If you go to make a throw and you are thinking "don't make a bad throw" is just like when you go to hit and are thinking "don't strike out", of course that is what's going to happen. Please give input whether you agree or disagree and advice on how I should approach this situation is greatly appreciated.
