Just awful lack of execution and coaching from both teams in tie-breaker situation...

UNC girl looked like she had never bunted before... and didn't get the bunt down.
The UNC girl on 2nd ran on a ground ball back to the pitcher and was easily thrown out
Texas girls couldn't get the bunt down. Coach not telling her to just show bunt - using bunt for hit technique
UNC throws a wild pitch so now the runner is on third... and then I think someone in the crowd told them to load the bases to create the force
UNC fielders are not at throw home depth in the outfield with the speed on third.
... and now UNC walks in the winning run...

Thank you for not coaching and not executing

Even better than that for me.

How about 1B catching the return throw from the catcher and hand it to the pitcher every time there were base runners. Is the P overhand throw that bad?

Yesterday my dd and I went to see Loyola play the Eagles at KSU. First couple of innings it seemed like a fairly even match. No runs, everyone looked good. I think it was the 3rd inning when the Eagles left fielder let a pop fly bounce out of her glove and it was downhill from there. 1B did the same thing, easy pop fly, bounced out of the glove. Safe, safe. Loyola got their momentum going, hit 2 out of the park for 5 runs total, Eagles made more errors, final score when they called it at the end of the 5th, 9-0.

It was a great opportunity to talk to my dd about the mental game. You make an error or the other team gets a big hit that scores a bunch of runs, you can't let it get into your head. It's too easy for the game to go downhill fast if you let that happen. Easier said than done though!

I was wondering if P had issue with catching the return throw. Scarborough and the other commentator will a little dumbfounded as well.

There are a few of my DD's former teammates or acquaintances who are freshmen making their college debuts this weekend. We were looking up boxscores and such, seeing how they did. One started at shortstop in her first game. She made a bases-loaded error in extra innings that cost her team the game. Another is a pitcher who gave up 5 runs in the 1st inning in a 15-0 loss in a game that I would've thought to be a tossup going in.

I asked DD what she thought of it. She said those two should be proud they were starters on a D-I team as freshmen. It's an honor. They have nothing to feel bad about. Keep working hard.

I set her up for that because my response was, ''Is that the sort of thing you tell yourself when you mess up?''

Answer is no, she's much harder on herself than teammates. She has to trust that teammates have her back and let it go. IMO, you've got to have a very positive attitude to thrive in this sport. Otherwise, it can be pretty brutal ''in the arena.''

Naw, she could catch it just fine and did so without base runners. Only happened with someone on base.
It has to be her overhand throw with NC being concerned the runners would just advance on her.
She fielded a couple of weak ground balls and made the underhand toss to 1B and Home for the outs.
