I had to go back to Gamechanger to confirm. 10U all-stars. The all-time worst inning when DD was pitching. Game tied 6-6 after 7th. We are home team. ITB 8th inning, 1 out, after runner on 2nd base bunted to 3rd base, it goes like this:

single
error (by DD pitcher)
error (by DD pitcher)
reached on fielders choice
double
single
reached on fielders choice
single
error (3rd baseman)
single
single
flyout (2 outs)
hit by pitch (finally new pitcher came in)
single
picked off 2nd on steal for 3 outs (thank god!)

When all is said and done the score is 20-7. Ouch!!!

Reminds me of my daughter's 12u team a few years back. Low level B team that some times would look pretty good. Other's.....not so much. Always seemed to have that one inning in a game where they would start throwing the ball around making errors like they had never played the game before. You know the old over throw first base, first base player runs to the ball....gonna throw the runner out at third. Over throw third. Run scores. Next batter..repeat.

DD 10u rec league has 4 run limits, until unlimited sixth inning, which we have never made due to time. We are an extremely inexperienced team outside of just a few players and our defense can be very porous but with the run limits the innings are over soon enough. Our nightmare is batting. The majority of the team just can't hit live pitching, even 20 mile per hour slow pitch. Fortunately, we had a game where the opposing pitcher COULD NOT throw a ball any where near the strike zone, so was walk after walk - except for one kid that struck out twice in the same inning. None of the six swinging strikes were actually strikes, or anywhere close, but you have to love that she was being aggressive? :)

until unlimited sixth inning

I have never understood that rule but also have never played with it. It seems to me you need to keep your best pitcher available to shut the inning down.

(Any rules that get me thinking is a bad thing, roll the ball out and see who wins)

A Rec league game with a never-ending inning? Don't you have run limits?

Little League Minors Division (ages 9-11) has a 5 run per inning limit in our area. Majors Division (ages 10-12) does not. No run rules either.

We played a team Saturday that was clearly a stacked team, a team meant to compete in All Stars and they put up about 17 runs in one inning against us. The thing is, we weren't playing that poorly, they were just smacking the ball into the outfield. I think we gave up two grand slams that inning. We lost 29-12. I'm actually very proud of our team for scoring 12 runs on some pretty good pitching.

Our longest inning turned into the longest season. DD played 10U rec this season, and our team gave up the fewest hits, but also the most runs by far. First four games DD allowed only 4 hits, but 28 runs (no typo). My standing joke was that we couldn't beat ourselves in an inter squad game lol. It was paaaainful!!

Last fall ball season, my younger DD's 10u team pitched two no-hit games that they won by scores of 9-7 and 15-8. They had to come-from-behind in the last inning to win the first game, and the pitcher walked 18 batters in the second. Lot's of gray hairs were earned those games.
