I think the 12u/14u aspect is being looked at way too hard. Sure there is an age gap but they are playing ball not becoming roommates. Instead of looking at it like a potential problem look at it as a chance for her to gain maturity and experience.

I cannot repeat some of the things I have heard second-year 14U girls say to each other in dugouts. Some of their conversations can be truly shocking.

All I do is coach 12U and 14U over and over again. With that experience, I greatly prefer to have 12-year-olds stay away from being exposed to it as long as possible.

Warriormike. I'd keep her down. If she's average in 12u, give her that season where she dominates. She may want to take that continued dominance with her when she move back to to travel ball.

My DD dominated in travel ball in 12u, I placed her in the local league 14u as well for a season. This didn't make her any better, just gave her some extra reps against larger sized girls.

Last year I went down to my local league to watch a 14u game. I had never been so embarrassed by what I saw, girls were back talking the umpire and the coaches. The Umpire finally had enough and called the game.

This year I've taken an active role in the league and thankfully those coaches and girls are no longer there.

Most second year 14's are playing 16u, at least around here. I'm not so sure it's the age as much as the kids though. You can't lump an age group and they are bad. Around here intermediate school is 6-8th grade. We do not have 11 year olds running around cursing, getting pregnant, yelling at umps so must be the kids.

Question? Would you let your 10 yr old dd be a bat girl at the WCWS?
