I was driving to work this morning and saw a lonely softball on the side of the road all by itself. I was going to stop and take it home. But it wouldn't have been safe. Hopefully it's ok

My dog loves old softballs. She just found one in the yard and throws it to herself. it would have a great home.

This is why DD writes her surname on all her softballs.

Once this summer we lost a softball in the nearby park. The next time we went to the park, we found two softballs there. Since we know most of the softball players in this area, we could've returned the extra ball to its rightful owner. Instead, DD rescued the softball, adopted it, and gave it a new home.

You are all in luck. I run a softball shelter. Next time you find one let me know and I will give them a good home. Actually it is not such a good home. They get beaten with bats daily and have to share a bucket with 20 others. Occasionally when their cover starts to tear I have been known to flay them and rip out the insides for use on a tee.
