With winter drawing nigh, my DDs (13 and 10) won't be able to practice outside. Does anyone have recommendations for drills in any facet of the game (fielding, hitting, pitching) they could work on in a smallish furnished basement? I'd love to hear people's thoughts on how/if kids can continue to improve in such a restricted space. Thanks.

Glove work-ground balls and short hops are something we do inside every winter. Check out the Ron Washington video of him working with a player. That's basically what we do minus the fungo, I just toss the ball. I use a lite flite ball on the hardwood, I imagine a real ball would be fine on carpet.

Focus on strength and conditioning (especially with your older dd). I always believed that a period of time without touching a bat or ball is good for development. Some may disagree with this; however, the improvement after an extended break can be significant. Also, helps keep the desire burning.
