A question for a coach..
14U Bracket Game 70 minute time limit.
Dad here. I have a 12 year old almost 13 softball pitcher that was told (by her coach) she was an "Irresponsible Pitcher" for not warming up during the game. She warmed up prior to the game but was never told when she would go in. All four pitchers warmed up. She was the only one that did not go in to fill in another position. The starting pitcher got out of the first inning no problem, second inning got bases loaded with no outs and got out of it with no runs, let 1 run score in the third inning, then in the fourth and final inning really struggled and let 4 runs score and was having problems getting outs. The coach turned to her about 3 runs into the fourth inning and asked had she warmed up during the game. My daughter told her "No, you haven't told me to warm up." She replied that she was being an "Irresponsible Pitcher" and that she should be ready to go in at anytime. She should have gotten warmed up during the game. Is it the players responsibility to determine when she might need to get warmed up or is it the coaches job to tell the pitchers when to warm up and when to be ready to go in?
