When I showed DD a tweet of a DI school's 6:30AM workout and she said, "I want to do that!"

When they came a callin’! None of them were a fit for DD though. Ended committing to a D3. It will cost us $1500 a year or less for a $46K a year school. DD has an interview this weekend for one of five full tuition scholarships that will put money in her pocket if she gets it. Get your grades and go where you can get a good education in your preferred major!

So learning and getting more involved with the recruiting process. I am finding out more and more that its all about the end results. Whats going to be better for your dd at the end? There is a sweet looking Junior College in our area that is a feeder school to D1 and D2 schools. Right now Cali is offering a program "first year free" for college. Now I believe you have to meet some requirements, but this particular JC may work, because if offers my dd's career path. Its not always about the D1. Its about the right fit for your dd. Yes, I had the ego that my dd needed to play D1, but seeing what other colleges offer. Now I'm like, "hey girl, get that education!"

Thanks. Worthwhile advice.

I did mean this tread to be a tongue-in-cheek discussion.

DD is midway through her freshman year at a D3. Could she have played D1 or D2, yes but finding a school with her major, in her preferred location was her priority. She wanted to make sure that the school was a good fit for her with or without softball. Her school finishes top or near the top of their division most years, she loves the coach and the girls on the team, She also got a fairly large academic scholarship which definitely helped.
Her school is rigorous in their off season training, she was at strength and conditioning at 6 am today. But most of all she's happy, she was very particular in where she wanted to be location wise which narrowed the search down a lot, then we toured (started sophomore year going to open houses) and were able to cut down the coaches she emailed greatly by eliminating the schools she didn't like.
I've seen so many players become blinded by a D1 offer that they don't put any thought into whether they'll actually be happy there and then end up transferring

So far it's not about D1, 2, or 3 for my DD. It's all about the major offered and post graduate degree she needs for her career choice. Her first choice is a school a few miles down the road. Second is a few hours east on the coast, both state schools and D1. Still early in the recruiting process, so that list should grow some. Got till later this year before any coaches can talk to her. This should be a fun year. So much "growing up" to do! As far as workouts go, well my DD loves working out more than just about anything else. Back when she played school baseball, she got up at 5am to get her workout in. :)

Now for the tongue in cheek part, one of the schools is on the beach. She quite loves the beach. :D
