I teach swing down. For a direct and efficient path. Not for GBs. I love 80’s baseball before PEDs. Guess I’m ignorant. Or maybe more informed? Subjective I guess.
Nice post Riseball.. Lisle is about Lisle. He learned from Wallenbrock.
Yes coaches teaching swing down for ground balls are misunderstanding what swinging down is IMO. Some people take things way too literal
Old school coaches teaching "hit down on the ball" and "hit something hard on the ground" and calling a hitters swing preschool are stuck in 1975 when pitchers dominated and contact was the goal. These coaches are lazy, ignorant, know it all and self righteous. There is no excuse and it is unacceptable IMO. Most these old school coaches are also generally loud, obnoxious, and use degradation as a coaching style. Run from it.
With Lisle if the player hits the ball well it is "the new swing" that he taught them. If they hit the ball poorly it is "your old swing". He has some good insights and very good at marketing, but he is an opportunist and is in it for what is good for him. Nothing more.
