At DD's U16 practice today, one of the "older" girls was telling them their throwing foot should be pointing straight ahead at their target.

Is this correct? I always thought (and taught) it should be at a 45. I asked the coaches and they didn't know.

She had a funny but compact throw too. It looked like she was throwing well despite the lack of mechanics.

Yeah, that's what I thought.
I knew Howard Kobata recommends a specific style of throwing (that's different than what I'm used to) and was specific on the plant foot being perpindicular to the throw, but I didn't know if maybe he had the lead foot pointing straight. I checked the video and he does not.
