I would disagree with getting mad at this one ... if you are a “pick-up” or fill-in, you should have no expectations on playing time. You certainly shouldn’t expect time over the paying team members.

On the other hand, as the coach you should be respectful of the players’ and parents’ time that they have just given you.
You play your pickups. Especially on travel tournaments. They are doing you a favor.
If this gets out that a coach sat there pickups, they wouldn't be able to get pickups in the future.

The only exception is if the coach talked to the parents/player ahead of time and told them that they would not get much playing time.
