If it weren't for DD not making a local town travel team 2 years ago, she would never be a pitcher and know what it's like to work hard for something you really want. She tried out 2 years ago for our town travel team after being a rec all star for several years. She was the only girl who tried out who didn't make the team. She tried out as a catcher and when she found out she didn't make the team, she told me that she thought she could pitch better than the girls she caught at tryouts. I told her she has to work hard and go out there and prove herself.

Fast forward one year, she makes the town travel team as a pitcher and is voted team MVP. A year later, she is asked to join an A level team and in last weekend's tourney she was selected tourney MVP. She was the winning pitcher in the tournament finals. She received 3 MVP medals over the weekend and she gave one of them to her third baseman who also had an incredible weekend at the plate and had a ton of RBI's - DD thought her teammate deserved the recognition more. Very proud of her diligence over the past 2 years. If it weren't for a set back, she probably wouldn't know what it's like to really have to push yourself to be a stand out.
