tell them you want them to fail spectacularly. alot of it may be fear of trying that spectactular play and not making it. praise spectacular attempts that fail.

I love this, "fail spectacularly!" I've always believed girls have a fear of failure and are afraid to embarrass themselves, not all girls, but the majority. It's when that one girl makes that over-the-top spectacular play, that fear goes away!
