A coach with a tee and a front toss screen would have been a real equipment geek in those days.
Yeah I didn't start using batting gloves until HS, e.g. early 90's. By that point I was probably taking 400-500 swings a day in the summer months whether it be BP from my friends or tee-work/self-toss by myself. I would ride my bike ( I didn't get my license until my senior year) to the park with all my gear (tee, balls, bat,glove..no idea how I did that) and then wait to see who showed up. I would spend all day there, maybe playing basketball for a few hours, and come home for dinner. A lot of good it did me since I now sit behind a computer screen all day..LOL!!Before the days of the Dicks sporting goods replacement plan, lol!
My “playing career” was rec in the late 70’s/early 80’s. I don’t remember anyone having batting gloves. We were probably taking less than 50 swings a week though. Man I wish I could go back and do that over.
Yeah..my wife just says I was a weirdo..LOL!!Man, that is awesome!
I wish kids today knew how much fun they could get out of a game like this! And I wish I would have known it myself when I was a kid!
