Taking out the Catcher

Players that run into catchers are bush league... Players should simply slide (hook or regular) to avoid the out. If an injury happens because of sliding, then that's part of the game.

My DD has been trucked before (no obstruction) and it sucked. For whatever reason, umps don't eject players for trucking the catcher without obstruction and they absolutely should. That would send an immediate message to all that player safety needs to be accounted for.

Any injuries are tough to take, catchers seem to have more than their fair share of opportunities to get them.

Jay does a better job than anyone I have been around in conveying to players how to get the results you want. Equipping my DD with the knowledge from Jay was key in her ability to play the position safely and effectively.
