Struggles after concussion

DD has struggled after being cleared to play after her concussion at 3rd about 1 1/2 weeks ago. She's had more errors last week, and in this morning's game then she did all of last year. Coach told her to get off the field if she's going to play timid. What would you do in this situation? Put her in a different position for awhile? Let her work through it? She's a very strong outfielder and can play any infield position also. It's not my call, but I was curious what others would do.

I'd tell the coach to go **** off. She suffered a BRAIN injury. Not a sprain, strain, cut, scrape etc. Let her recover however she needs to recover and don't force it. After all it's only softball.

Read about concussions, its affects, and recovery time.

In high school, where baseline tests are done before the season, and must be passed in order to compete again, it is common a concussion puts a player out of action 3 weeks.

The 1st week, no action whatsoever. The 2nd week moderate excercize, jogging perhaps, to make sure her brain and body slowly gets back to activity. 3rd week, start elevating her play with a ball and bat, and more strenuous activity.

Then if all goes well, it is back to live softball. A week and a half, are you kidding me?

My bad SCDad...she was cleared to play about a week and half ago. She was cleared 2 weeks after the injury.

Thanks

Thanks for the articles and suggestions. I called the coach last night after I got home from work and I think we've come to an agreement. He also called my daughter and she said she feels better after talking with him. She has a coach coming to see her play today so I hope it goes well. He did watch her once at practice this week and she did great.
