Status of Softball in Florida

There was hope this past week that Gov DeSantis would allow youth sports to resume in Florida. Although gyms, professional sports leagues and practice facilities may now reopen, the Governor provided no guidance regarding youth sports and groups greater than 10 are still prohibited. Our team has begun to practice in small groups. Hopefully, tournaments will be permitted to be held in June.

I’m curious if the PGF tournaments scheduled in Claremont for Memorial Day and end of May will be played. TD says they have not been canceled.

Maybe we will be in Phase 2 by then, depending on how things go. A specific mention of youth sports by the Governor would be nice.

In our county they are waiting on Governor to OK youth sports, but then. The County/Parks are gonna take another week or so to decide what our guidelines will be in regard to TB practices vs hosted tournaments. I’m thing PGF is moving events to privately owned fields in Claremont to avoid addl restrictions at county complexes.

Divisions: 10U - HS Girls, Game Guarantee: 6, Entry Fee: $585- Play 2 games Saturday, 3 games Sunday, Elimination Monday.

Now we just need to get our county parks to re-open for league practices so our can have a real practice. As yesterday we still have no start date for groups bigger than 10 or organized practices

We are playing a one day PGF tournament in Clermont on 5/22, and a USSSA tournament the following weekend in Viera.
