Should a girl be able to throw the same speed in regular motion vs run throughs? Got one hitting 60 on runs and 58 regular motion

Depends on the drive mechanics. In my experience with girls that don’t have optimal leg drive you will see a 4-6 mph difference in walk/run-throughs vs regular pitch. Once they optimize their drive, that difference gets cut in half.

Kinda what I thought. I guess if you are on 2-3 mph slower on regular motion then you are probably getting the most from your drive

One measure, which I got from Rick Pauly, is that a walk-through should be about 103% of their full pitch speed. 60 is about spot on with that percentage given her 58mph mound speed. So, I think she is exactly where you would want/expect her to be and suggests she is pitching pretty efficiently. The walk/run through generates additional energy off the rubber, so you would expect it to be higher, but not dramatically higher.

When I first started working with her she was 55 regular motion but 60 on runs. We did 2 Step drill a ton. It’s become part of her regular motion. She was 58 today regular and still 60 on runs. That chick got excited!!

DD actually throws harder off the mound but I think it’s because her sequence is off with walk through. She pitches out of her glove.
