Thank you Ken. Gymnastics is a rare sport in that the risk of serious injury is so high if your head is not 100% in the game.

SB can be too. Both non contact sports but risk of serious injury can be high if their head is not in the game.

But not at the same level of risk. I suppose a pitcher grooving pitches might have her head knocked off, but more likely is being taken out of the game as the opposing teams runs up the score.

All sports have some level of risk, and something can go terribly wrong in rare cases. But with gymnastics the things someone like Simone Biles does are almost superhuman. More risk of serious injury, such as being paralyzed, versus softball.

That said, anyone in any sport can just feel off or unable to play. We in the softball world need to listen to our kids to make sure they're ready mentally as well as physically. Not just for injury but for their enthusiasm and love for the sport too.
