Can anyone answer this for me --runner on 3rd base gets into a run down /pickle from 3rd to home and catcher and 3rd baseman goes back and forth several times but are always in the running lane or base path , is this called obstruction? runner can't run around them for they would be called out for going out of the baseline or should they plw them down.

You don't have to plw them over just run into one of them when they don't have the ball and cont. towards the base you were headed. Do a little acting to almost fall down or fall down, you know like the NBA basketball players and the cry baby men soccer players do. Sorry I hate soccer.

In a nutshell, the obstruction rule states that a defensive player without the ball or in the act of fielding a batted ball may not hinder or impede a runner legally running the bases. This applies in a rundown as well.

The runner caught in a rundown should not intentionally try to run into a defender or plow them over, just run the bases.

BTW, the rule about being out of the basePATH only applies when a runner is trying to avoid a tag. It does not apply to a runner trying to run around a defender that does not have the ball.
