OK, time to post a pic of a happy softball moment.

Here is one of my DD at sunset last year (not a perfect photo, but oh well). It was a very long midsummer day, and we were tired and ready to go home. I think this game was running at least an hour late. We saw the sunset, and made a point to tell our players to notice it, but since we were actually playing, we did not really have time to take it all in. Plus, our dugout had the green blackout netting on it to keep the parents from continually talking to the kids (which I loved, BTW), so we only got to see it while on the field. We lost the game, and by the time it was over, it was after 9 PM, and we were toast. One of the parents approached me, and said "Hey, not sure if you were able to see this, so I snapped this photo for you." It made my day! I think this AB produced one of our only 4 hits that game.

I hope this helps someone's day feel a little better.

Please share something that you think will help bake our days a little brighter!

Here's my DD, taken March 22, 2014.......6 years ago today!.....And it was her very first at bat, ever!....She was 9 years old, and we signed her up for little league. The guy who ran our local LL said to me that she should play in a "tournament" with his team before the league. Mind you, she never swung a bat before, all we did was work on catching. And it wasn't this at bat, but somehow she did get a hit this day (might of been helped by shoddy fielding, but it was scored a hit).....6 years sure does go fast, she's still playing.....Thousand of dollars spent, thousands of miles travelled, but most important, thousand of happy memories created.

No possible way to find the happy softball moment for me. I've enjoyed it all. As in anything, there were bad times along with the good. But I'd do it again in a heartbeat. So our happy softball moment ended a couple of years ago when our last soft-baller hung up her spikes to play collegiate volleyball. Here's our last post game family shot (missing The Boy...but including the demon dog):

And as we ship off The Boy to Army AIT this summer and ball seasons getting pushed out due to the pandemic, it is possible our family has already hung up the spikes for the last time. It has been an incredible journey. We've all shared some blood, sweat, and tears along the way. Each of them having learned to love the Lord and the game. These 2 things have shaped them into the amazing young adults they have become. Again, I'd do it all again.

Don't blink...you will sure miss it.

Good time for this post. Older DD pitching and younger DD playing RF (10 and 9) in the NYS 10U State Championships a few years back on my birthday. Finished runner up in the state from a tiny town that could only field one team in that age bracket. Was a great week.

Younger DD hung up her cleats after this. She figured she peaked at that point :)

2021 will be 50 years in softball for me.
I fully intend on getting back to it this year to complete this 5th decade. Then grow more!

Little kiddo right away wanted to hit, throw and play catch.
Started playing rec when i was 6.
Started travel ball when it first began.
Played about 5 years on this
Original BATBUSTER TEAM
Still remember road trips and team stories.
What an awesome impact softball is in my life!!
Thankful for every year!

This pic makes me smile every time I look at it. DD's first year of All Stars when she was 7 and her Combat cracked right where the barrel starts to get smaller. She's feeling for it in this pic so she can turn it to the back. She threw a fit when I told her to use another bat so I let her use it until the crack got too big to hide.
