Someone asked for videos of my DD, and I accidentally ran across the only game footage I have of her. This is her as a college freshman.

Sluggers (or anyone),

I've just signed on as an assistant coach for a 10u travel team my dd plays for and the head coach want's me work with the pitching staff. I've got two dd's who have worked with a pitching coach for the past couple of years but they've learned a much different style than Sluggers dd (longer stride, more open, finish with shoulders back).

Most of the pitchers on the travel team pitch in a manner more similar to Sluggers dd than my own. I've noticed that around here that this pitching style seems fairly common, particulary among the bigger girls (my dd's are the tall & skinny type of pitchers).

Where can I find info on how to coach this style of pitching? Other than correcting some of the obvious flaws I see, such as leaning too far forward at the finish and bending at the waist, I'm somewhat lost on how to coach these girls.

Thanks,

Dusty

More Ueno (forward and closed with aggressive finishing scapula/shoulder action) here than Finch. Efficient and smooth. How was/is her rise?

She throws nothing like Ueno. She is open the entire pitching motion and doesn't turn properly. She also steps left of the power line which is one of the reasons she stays open.

Speaking to this pitcher's upright finish and scapula movement forward on the follow through, she surely does remind me more of Ueno than Finch which is why I'm curious how her rise worked.

Dusty: If your DD's have the correct pitching form, and it sounds like they do, then you should teach that to the other kids. If you are going to use someone as a template for pitching at the younger ages, go with Finch or Pauly.

These videos are of my DD throwing variations on a drop. In order for my DD to throw the drop with the control she had, she does some things which aren't recommended.
