This gif is a knee lift with good posture maintained. Look at the hinge in the back leg. Many on here say that is a “no no”. If you have good posture and pick your front knee up towards belly button without coming out of posture hip coil takes care of itself. No rearward movement

the only thing that I see different is a gathering of his weight back or down if you like. First . Then a knee lift. Not just a picking up of the leg. That wouldn’t be optimal imo.

But how does one COMPLETE a negative move? There must be resistance. Either vertically (like CB mentioned) or horizontally. Or both.

when there is resistance one can move out the same way all the time, every time which puts them on time.

I think the rearward movement you see is a result of picking the front knee up. Brace the backside to work against the front knee movement. Not a gather, then front side actions. Front side actions give the appearance of a gather

can you post an example of this? I see a shift back or down or both. And the knee lift is the result. A very balanced load.

edit: imo the resistance propels the mass forward and the stride reacts to that.

Woodstock, man
Good hitters seem to complete the negative move before striding no matter the size of that move......

it doesn’t matter if it’s a no-stride or a leg kick or a knee lift or a toe-tap. To me they all gather back against the head which ensures a balanced move out. Nothing gets stuck or loaded early.A natural coil ensues bc of resistance. From there it’s about releasing that initial stretch into the legs which loads the obliques.

Can you explain back against the head? Does that mean weight the back leg by driving the back foot into the ground without moving your head back and causing a sway back?
