Tied game, score is 1-1. Time has expired. Home team is at bat.
Runner at 2nd base. 2 outs. The person at bat hits a ball in the left center gap. Runner on 2nd scores easily. The outfield never throws the ball in and allows the batter to get a inside the park homerun, that part does not really matter since the game was over as soon as the runner on 2nd base scores.
My question is what is the final score? Is the score 1-2, or 1-3?
It is my understanding that the game is over as soon as the runner on 2nd base scores. If the batter would have hit a over the fence homerun the score would be 1-3 but since it was an inside the park homerun the final score would be 1-2.
