We were short last night with just 2 of us and both our catchers couldn't make it...SUCKED! Normally we have Coach, coach, pitching coach and myself who covers all gaps and gets the little things done.

Another thing our team has done with one coach (or with me playing outfield (mostly alone) is intrasquad scrimmage. I think that's helped our kids tremendously. We've (middle school) been working twice a week since July, exclusively on the field until mid November, and then any time we're above or close to 50 degrees because weather here fluctuates like crazy. Intrasquad has been half the practice almost every time. They've voluntary sessions so it usually ends up 5 on 5 and switching at 5 outs, with coach pitch and no catcher, but it works fine. It's definitely kept the infield sharp and allowed the girls to learn new positions.
