DD switched to left side of the plate over the winter and has been slapping. We've had good success on our own and she recently started lessons from a young lady that played D1 and was a slapper. She uses a 28/17 cf8 because she is so small and that's the size she needed from the right side. She tends to slide her hands up the bat really far so she is losing a lot of bat length. At practice the other night I compared her bat to a 29/18 and 30/19, both Demarini's. The 29 had the exact same barrel length but the 30 was a little longer. She used the 30 that night and really liked it. She actually swung away with the bigger bat and didn't do terrible so now she wants a longer bat, which doesn't bother me btw. I would really like to try a power carbon based on the feedback from this forum but I'm afraid she won't like it as much as the light swinging Demarini's. Looking at the data base the power carbon isn't much over sticker weight plus when she slaps or bunts I don't think it will matter anyway. No one has them locally so we cant' just go pick one up and swing it. Several parents on our team are talking about getting new bats and I keep steering them to the Mizuno's but they all have Demarini's and like them. I thought if we were to go first and then let the girls try ours maybe they would change their minds and at a minimum my dd would have one. Anyone have a dd convert from Demarini to PC? Thoughts on a smaller girl swinging one in 30/19? She is learning to hit from the left side as well and that's the part that concerns me with the heavier bat.
