I am a little surprised the issue of throwing from the knees has not come up during this discussion. My DD was taught to go with the pitch. Low pitch stay on knees. High pitch stand up. I have seen coaches tell a tall catcher (6') to never stand up and always throw from knees. Thoughts?
Great point!!!

Have found that pending the catchers athleticism knees or feet can both be efficient.
Agree with going with the pitch location.

Catchers that have more length may have more range on what pitches they can reach from crouch.
To throw from either feet or one knee. Obviously two knees if needed for dirt pitches.
That said also have thrown dirt pitches from feet and do teach that as part of a skill set especially to Young catchers starting out.

As to catchers who are taller...
yes there will be times that they have to throw from their feet.
Because they will have to be able to defensively move to the head high and above pitches.
Plus to the sides.
Catchers are defensive players with the added pleasure of framing.
