Just for fun...It looks to me (just a 10u and 12u dad), that the good arm is harder to find initially, in the lower age groups.
If teams didnt tend to carry three catchers and even on a day with three games catcher might get one. so either play a second position somewhere else another game or only play 1/3 of the time...
Notice generally not all other positions
(except pitcher) rotate as much
Outfield maybe?

When I was a kid, catchers were catchers from the moment we got off of the dinosaurs we rode to practice to the moment we got back on the dinosaurs.
Somehow we had to run uphill to every base. Home to first? Uphill. First to second? Uphill. Second to third? Uphill. Third to home? Uphill. The walk back to the dugout? Uphill.
We didn't have lights. We had cows that walked around with lanterns tied around their necks. Until the dinosaurs ate them.
