Begin your sequence every pitch, treat every pitch like a pitch you are going to hammer etc etc. You start your sequence when the pitcher starts theirs, you are in launch position regardless of scenario or count etc. If a hitter doesn't have this mentality then they are hamstringing themselves. The only way a hitter is always ready is if they start their sequence on every pitch before they know it's a ball or strike. This is a hitters routine.. neither passive or aggressive, its called being in position to launch the barrel on every pitch

There are way to many scenarios while hitting to generalize "picky vs non picky" or "passive vs aggressive". An intelligent successful hitter is aware of factors that determine how small or large their strike zone(hitting zone) should be.
