So my DD, after much thought, settled on possible major that she is really excited and happy about. Not all schools offer this major. One mid D1 in the major city near us does. It actually is one of the top schools in the country for it. They might have their 2021 class picked. She didn’t really consider this school because she was not really interested in going there. Now she is. She may go there and not play softball, but she really would like too. Is it proper etiquette to email the coach and tell him that she is interested based on her major, and she is wondering if there is still room for any 2021’s? Or if they have tryouts for walk ons? There is a D3 two hours away that also offers her intended major. She is contacting them too.

She’s picking a school for the right reasons. Coaches love that because it’s less likely a player will become overwhelmed and quit. If she’s got talent and is going to go to the school anyway either coach will take a good look at her.

Best of luck to her!
