Ok be gentle lol, looking for some pointers

Ok 14 yr old DD loves to play 3B but the team needs her to throw as well. She throws hard and has several spin/off speed pitches but just looking for more general help?? Have something funky with the glove hand, but ends up where it should?? Is this IR? Doesn’t finish with hello elbow unless really trying to throw a skinny drop if that makes sense?? Slowing the closeups to a stop shows that the glove arm goes swimming or moving to the left rather than on a straight line to the catcher. What this causes is an early rotation of the hips and the need to throw around the right hip. According to Bill Hillhouse at the top of the motion the pitching arm bicep should brush by the ear and at the bottom the forearm brush by the belly button. Have her do her full arm circle motion with a ball and see if she can throw into her own glove. If the glove arm goes swimming she will have a hard time catching the ball.

Do walk throughs...about a 1000 or so should do it. Seriously, this drill is done by *EVERY* high level pitcher. My DD started doing them at 13YOA and didn't stop until she warmed up for her last college game.

Pay careful attention to the ending position of Amanda's feet. That is how your DD should be standing after she throws. The extra step your DD is taking is reducing her speed by 3 to 5 MPH.

If you want to fix her problem quickly, do this:

Have your DD keep her right foot off the ground after she throws. So, she would be standing just on her left leg. She is not to lower her right foot until the ball returns to her.

The first few times, she is going to have a heck of a time keeping her balance. But, she will eventually get it.

Thanks, we do lots of walk throughs but without the FSR being correct I am guessing. Gonna get to work on the plant foot and be behind with our upper body. On the screw and the curve she seems to plant much firmer. The swimming arm may be more of a challenge lol

Seconding the effort to focus on FSR/posture. Back chain as far as necessary to get it perfect then up the effort as long as posture maintains.

Here is a private lesson from Bill Hillhouse which addresses the swimming arm and another concern with DD's motion which is turning the pushoff foot sideways.
