Our district (Chicago burbs) is planning similar. In one Chicago burb, they are planning to divide the kids into 2 groups. Mon: On line learning.
Tues: Group A.
Wed. Group B
Thurs. Group A
Fri: Group B. It is a well-to-do burb, with 99% of the kids having iphones, macs, ipads, and 1 gig internet.
My DDs HS school was originally going to follow almost this exact model. But this week they reveresed course and said on-line only until further notice as I mentioned the other day.In one Chicago burb, they are planning to divide the kids into 2 groups. Mon: On line learning.
Tues: Group A.
Wed. Group B
Thurs. Group A

Dallas is a up in the air. They are having trouble nailing down any plan. They are getting zero help from the state government...no one wants to stick their neck out.
Until people start bringing politics into it.This isn't political. It's a public health issue that is affecting our children.
The thing that sort of pisses me off is just the randomness of what is allowed and what isn't allowed in terms of sports, activities, etc. And I get that this is all new uncharted territory for everyone and nobody really knows what to do....but here in Orange County, Ca. we had been shut down for softball since March, then two weeks ago we get the ok to practice again for all Star and Travel Ball teams had been playing before that for a couple weeks. Then, just a week ago we get the hammer again and all youth sports and team practices and even school sports camps are all shut down again... and then I go to the beach (whole other discussion right there) and I see AT LEAST 100+ kids in the Jr. Life Guard camps all packed together as it's like any other summer here in So Cal. No masks, no social distancing, doing drills and games that literally have them holding hands and interacting physically with each other on the beach and in the water. Then they all pack in like sardines under their tents for their lunch breaks.
My wife and girls couldn't believe it. Softball with 12 girls and 2 coaches gets shut down, but 100-150 kids + 15-20 counselors/Life Guards are ok? My wife took a photo of the groups...we couldn't believe it. And this was 1 day AFTER Gov. Newsom ordered another semi-shutdown of gyms, restaurants, malls etc. My youngest asked why are they able to have their Life Guard camps with all those kids and we can't practice with 12 girls? I had no answer other than thinking to myself..."Welcome to Orange County where politics and money make the rules." The Jr Life Guard camps out here are BIG business and bring a LOT more $$ than softball does.
I couldn't agree more! We attended a HS softball scrimmage game at a local HS field, and we parents were told we'd have to watch from our cars or the outfield. No one allowed in the bleachers or behind home plate. We set up way back outside of left field, then watched as 4 different high school football teams and 2 baseball teams marched in. No masks, no effort to distance. Apparently, the boys were having camps and scrimmage games. The distancing guidelines only applied to the female athletes and their families.
Similar happened in the Park City area of Utah recently. We stayed in a hotel in Park City, and everything was highly regulated. Masks required, take out only or outdoor dining, no public access to things like straws, sugar packets, etc. Then we drive 20 minutes down to the tournament in Heber City and no one there gives a fluff about masks, social distancing, anything. The complete inconsistency is ridiculous and cancels out any possible positive effect from mask wearing or social distancing.
The state we live in the governor controls everything it aint the prez.No one likes that this has been politicized but if we had one consistent message from “leadership” in Washington, maybe, it would have been easier to get everyone on the same page. Instead, pandering to a political mindset, frankly, caused the disarray.
