See the difference, hope this helps explain. Tatis's example is a false stride, he's just reaching his foot forward. Trout is coming forward with his stride, when his foot lands he launches.

I like this gif. His "stride foot" is working back towards his pelvis right before it touches the ground(not trying to push away!). Thanks.
