nice weekend

Friendly DH Sat, caught about 6 innings, 2 BR thrown out, no successful stolen bases for opposition when she was behind plate.

3 game one day Sunday, caught about 9 innings all day, 2 BR thrown out (one BR did advance, not certain how it was scored, ball hit plate/dirt, fields were REALLY rough, home plate amost completely above playing surface, RHB box was a canyon)

hitting coming around too, not a lot of BH yet, but more aggressive at plate, better contact (long fly to CF caught, line drive caught by 1B, looper caught by 3B, couple hard grounders up the middle, one for BH, one with nice play by pitcher to field it).

pretty good weekend for DD. teams other C quit about two weeks ago, dissatisfied with time behine plate (they were splitting about 60/40 in favor of DD, in fall he is batting lineup). really hurt DD at time, thought they got along well for sharing same position, and DD understands that you need really two #1 Cs on a tournament team, not a starter and a backup. and she is coming off some shoulder issues, so she was worried about having to carry load, but C has had some other girls take some innings behind plate, and couple of guest catchers as well to share load.

anyway, this weekend, throws out three BR on Saturday, 4 on sunday (3 in championship game, they lost, did not get bats going).

also making good contact at plate, just getting unlucky (champ game, hard line drive caught at knees by pitcher, long fly ball to foul territory near left caught by LF), couple of base hits throughout weekend, couple of sac bunts, 4 RBI for weekend, and if not for CR would have scored several times, and zero strikeouts

hitting continuing to improve, 3 for 6 for weekend, couple of sac bunts (reached on one due to error), including one rocket down 3B line for a double, 5 RBI (led team for WE), out of 10 total PA. only a couple of steal attempts on her all weekend, caught one. they came in second in tourney, they got bats going late in each game, and in championship game just was too little too late (our pitchers were pretty wild in first two innings, sealed fate). hopefully this gets her confidence up and she continues like that.

ended this weekend's series of one day tourneys (14u on Sat, they played in 16u on Sunday) in my favorite way, SO and DD threw out runner stealing 2nd on same pitch to end the game. they won both 14u and 16u for the weekend, the latter they played a very good 16u team that did NOT like losing to 14u team.
