I can agree with riseball to an extent.
I do not agree with Rambler34, if that is actually true. A team's ranking and Regional selection should not be based on game attendance.
I looked back at Michigan's 2015 season.
They finished the entire season with a 60-8 record.
At the end of the season they were seeded #3, and got a Regional and Super Regional.
Early on in the season they beat teams like Alabama and Georgia Tech.
But in the latter half of the season they played the standard BIG 10 teams that they always would/do...
So yes, it's still my opinion that Minnesota got screwed for this Regional/Super Regional selection.
Regardless of what they preach about being there for student athletes the NCAA is about money. This season Minnesota had a total attendance of 8335 for their 11 true home games. UofA drew over 12,000 for a 3 game series with AU a couple of weeks ago. At $10 a pop there is a huge difference in the money that can be brought in.
The home field is taken into account when selecting regional hosts. Just a couple of years ago Cal could not host because their field was not up to par. Auburn lost out on a baseball regional in the late 90's because of the size of the stadium. I am not an Alabama fan by no means but as long as they have a good season they will host because no one touches them in attendance.
