What are some of the must ask questions a PSA should raise when talking to college coaches during the recruiting process?

What is the likliehood that I will get to play my freshman year?
How many recruits are you bringing and how many transfers?
Why is there only 1 Senior on the team?
How many players can dress out and travel to away games?
What time do weights start?
How many hours a week will I be at the field without coaches present?
How do you get the most out of your players?
What is the housing situation for your players?
How do you feel about me pursuing a major in Nursing?
I am pitcher--Will I be asked to change my style?
I am a hitter--Will I be asked to change my style?
What frustrates you?
Who controls the music on the PA system at the field?
How do you see the next four years? Where will you be?
What is your favorite form of player punishment?
Will there be snacks in the dugout?
Who drags the field?
Do you like hacky sack?
Are tutors available?
When are mandatory study sessions?
Do you have equipment sponsors?
Do I get to hit my favorite bat? Don't make me hit Mizuno!
Why do you have 6 pitchers and only 2 catchers?

What academic support is available for players?

How much travel is there?

is it common for players to redshirt?

What’s your Grad rate for softball players?

What major’s are you players taking?

What majors/classes might conflict with softball? Is there the flexibility to take the majors/classes in question while playing ball?

Are scholarships year to year or guaranteed for four years?

The most important question the player needs to ask herself. Would you attend this school if you didn’t play softball?

Seems Orange Socks has many of them.

We asked who the biggest rival was. At one school, the players all hated a pitcher on another team which is not the same answer that the coach gave. And you know we looked up that pitcher the second we got home.

Graduation rates

In season and out of season times you are required to do something. That is more or less asking what a typical day out and in season is like

Is study hall mandatory?

Has anyone else on the team had my major before?

I know some of these questions are tongue in cheek, but many are questions I would ask. If they don't like the questions then beware.

Boy, is that the big one.

Aside from that, I'd asked about housing, about travel, about cost of attending. And then about networking, support after graduation or eligibility. Graduation rates and majors among the players -- not great to have a whole team of social science majors, because that shows players are being pushed into easier/more flexible majors.

But start with the big one.

DD went on her college visit Fall of Jr year. We did the whole day tour and at the end the coach offers her a spot. DD immediately says Yes! Coach's eyes are as wide as dinner plates and says Mom, Dad are you good with this? I think he was surprised that he was able to get her at all. As we were walking to the car, I said Wow that escalated pretty quickly! She said, Dad I asked myself if I could see myself going to the school without softball and the answer is YES. I didn't really need any more time to think about it.
